Are you SBI account holder? Then consider this an alert! India’s largest bank, the State Bank of India (SBI) is likely to stop net banking facility for those who have not added their mobile phone number to their bank account details. The SBI account holders who have not done so may be penalised as their accounts will no longer be able to avail net banking facility. In effect, account will be blocked. Thus, you won’t be able to do any kind of transaction using net banking. SBI has warned its bank account holders to rush and register their mobile phone number at the nearest bank branch.
As per the information given on the State Bank of India’s official website onlinesbi.com, the bank will block the net banking facility for those account holders who are using facility without adding their mobile phone number to their personal details at the bank.
SBI Ultimatum for users
SBI bank account holders have been provided a deadline – the last date to register is December 1, 2018. So, if this applies to you, then rush to add mobile phone number to your account in bank’s directory.
Where to go for update?
SBI customers need to visit their nearest SBI branch before the deadline in order to add mobile phone number to their bank account. Adding cell phone number to bank account may save you from many hurdles. In fact, you will not be able to even use the instant money transfer via net banking feature plus other services.
Why SBI made it mandatory?
In fact, SBI has taken this step in interest of its customers to protect them from ongoing banking frauds. Not just cheats in India, hackers from abroad, especially North Korea have been stealing money from bank ATMs, it was reported recently by security software company Symantec. If bank account holders register their cell phone number with SBI, then the bank will inform them immediately of each and every transactions that happens in their account via SMS. So, it is in benefit of bank account holders to register their mobile number, which may save them from losing money unknowingly.
SBI added that step is very much mandatory for account holders.
