Earlier on Monday, four terrorists were killed at Kalgai village, near the Line of Control in Uri sector. They were planning to target the Army’s strategic 76 artillery unit on Uri-Kaman road, , officers said. While Three militants were killed in a joint operation on Sunday, and one was killed on Monday in a combing operation, Indian Express said.
“We received specific information about the presence of terrorists in the adjoining area of Kalgai village,” Deputy Commandant, 12 infantry brigade, Harpeet Singh was quoted as saying by the paper. “The operation was launched late September 23 night; the cordon was established by midnight.’’
“The terrorists were well-equipped and planned to carry out a major strike in the Kalgai camp. Alert troopers foiled another devastating attack on the Army camp,” he told the paper further.
According to report, police had first received information about presence of militants in the village, which was then passed on to Armed forces. Three AK rifles, IEDs and more than a dozen grenades were recovered from them.
Terrorists had come to the village to target the Army camp. They perhaps reached the village on Saturday and could have been waiting for an correct time to target the camp, officials added. They were in Army fatigues to avoid attention, sources told Indian Express.
