Vodafone revamps Red plans to take on Jio and Airtel with free unlimited calls, more data
In a bid to take on Airtel’s new Infinity postpaid plans that offer free data and unlimited calling on a certain bill amount, Vodafone modified three of its Vodafone Red postpaid plans to offer something similar.
Vodafone Red plans are postpaid plans that the company offers at a starting price of Rs 499. But it is now offering unlimited calls with the pack and all packs above it. Unlimited free calls were earlier available on packs starting Rs 16,999.
Vodafone’s Red Postpaid 499 now includes unlimited local and STD calls. It also includes 1GB data as provided earlier, with 2GB 4G data if you have a 4G handset which makes a total of 3GB free data. The pack also includes 100 SMS.
This means the company has increased the limit of 4G data to at least 3GB for its postpaid customers. The plans are starting Rs 499 and the benefits apply to 4G circles for free data.
Similarly, the Vodafone Red Postpaid 699 plan offers Unlimited local and STD calls but with 5GB of total 4G Data, or 2.5GB if you don’t have a 4G handset. This pack also includes 100 free SMS.
Vodafone is also offering Red Postpaid 399 plans in select circles that also include unlimited calling. But the 4G data is limited to 1GB along with 100 SMS. All plans could be region specific and don’t include taxes.
Earlier this week Airtel announced a 12-month free data offer that includes at least 3GB extra data along with usual data packs. For Airtel prepaid users, the offer was applicable on packs Rs 345 and above. Its postpaid subscribers will get it with the MyPlan Infinity Plans priced at Rs 549 and above that also includes unlimited free local and STD calls.
